Peggy, So very sorry to hear your news. It sure is a hard pill to swallow and even harder to find things positive to do....maybe voice/singing lessons???
You have a great spirit. May you be able to continue to be upbeat....even when one gets down.

Oh, Grammie, I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket even when I had a voice!! That made me laugh. When our kids were little they always covered their ears whenever I would attempt to sing. And I always had a very loud voice, coming from a family of five kids, and my poor husband would always give me a signal to lower my voice. Now I can't sing and my voice is never loud. Hmmm. The Lord works in mysterious ways!

Hi Grammie! I'm a "Grammy" too, just spelled differently. I'm so sorry to hear of all the treatments you have had to endure. Can't be easy!! All your posts are so upbeat, even with all you've been through. Please stay positive and let's all pray that the chemo will work. Stay as sweet as you are.

Ok, I start the chemo challenge on Monday. Will be getting Carboplatin and Alitma. Doctor hopes I can do four cycles, but I think he feels my counts will take a nose dive by at least the second treatment! Going to try hard to be a good girl and keep them up and drink......umm....oh ya, lots of water!!
Mayo Clinic agreed completely with my local oncologist and I think that made the rest of the family feel better. I knew he was great, they just needed some reassurance!
They tell me that the Dexamethasone might make me feel "wired", hungary and give me pink cheeks. Told them I would try hard to keep my bottom covered so no one would see my pink cheeks!
Hope all of you are doing great and enjoying the fall weather!
Lots of leaves to rake here, but that's a project for others, not me.,
Will keep you posted.

Peggy you have wonderful humor!! Oh how I did smile at the 'pink checks'.....you find something to laugh at at every turn. I admire your humor!!
I too hope and pray the chemo will work and the weird side effect is non-existent. These side effects can come and go and are different for each of us, just like SD is.
Glad the Mayo Clinic is in agreement.....sure makes one with more peace.
Hang in there and enjoy watching others rake the 'signs of fall'.....you the leaves and I the pine needles....only pine trees where I live and a few birch trees.

I didn't realize how long it's been since I've been on the board.
I have completed two rounds of carboplatin and alimta and just had a CT scan last week. Well, results aren't good. The cancer has spread to my left lung; there are 7 nodules, and three more in my right lung and a lot of new growth in the middle of my chest! BUT, I did not lose my hair!
For the next two Tuesdays I will be trying something completely different, Taxotere. We are hoping that it actually does some work other than taking away my hair again!
I got out my big girl panties (I had forgotten how big they actually are) and will be putting them on to get through this.
I hope I do a better job of keeping all of you updated on my progress this time!
Hope all had a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Peggy I hope this round works out for you. Those big girl undies should do the trick and I agree with Christel hair is over rated, I have not had any for years. Keep us updated and all the best Peggy.
