Well, here is the long winded update:
I had surgery on 6/6/11 and it was suppose to be stage 2, and remove the lower right lobe and an enlarged lymph node by the breast bone.
When surgery started, the doctor saw that it was stage 3 and had to remove the two lower right lobes and several more enlarged lymph nodes. (I don't have this in writing yet/will have it next week) and he kept removing lung tissue until he got a clean margin.
Then I had a little lung collapse and air leak so instead of being in the hospital for 1-3 days, I was in for 8 and had a drainage tube in for 7 days.
Evidently, when it's stage 3 they usually do radiation/chemo before surgery. No one has any idea why this didn't show up on the pet scan. So now we are doing this a little backwards.
I have my post op on June 21st and will get a copy of all my labs, biopsies, surgical report, etc. At that time we will also set an appt. with the oncologist for the following week.
The surgeon said he got everything he could see. Let's hope that he did.
This is all the info I have until further doctor appts. What a mess, but I feel it will all work out. I have lots of prayer warriors out there!!
Thank you everyone.

Bill and I walked down the street about four houses and back this morning. It was humid so my chest felt heavy (no comments please lol) by the time we got back to the house.
Amazingly I was having more pain in the shoulder and when I mentioned that to the nurses they explained that my arm was over my head for the 2 1/2 hour operation and for a person who also has fibromylgia, that was pure torture.
I'm trying to keep moving and not just sit. I move my arm around and it is so wonderful to get up and go to the bathroom w/o having a chest tube unplugged and the leg thingys unplugged. Ah freedom!!!
And for some potty humor.....only it wasn't funny then....I was constipated for seven, 7, SEVEN days!!!!!!!!!!!! I was working on the floor record by the time they moved....no ran...no exploded!! ;D
So much better now!! You have to laugh or else you will spend way too much time crying!!

Bless your heart, Peg. You've really been through the wringer. I'm so glad to hear that you're doing better and getting out and about. Your attitude will help things along, too, I'm sure. My prayers for you continue, and I'm happy to get your update.

Had my post op appt. yesterday and he said I was healing very well. No restrictions. So glad to hear that because I need a massage so bad. Of course, she will have to avoid the surgical area, but all the rest needs it.
Dr. said it will take 4-6 weeks to heal completely. Evidently they separate the ribs for the surgery and then have to pull them back into place and use surgical suture material to wrap around them to hold them in place and then when it disolves I may feel a pop, and he said not to worry, it's not my ribs, just the suture.
I see the oncologist on Thursday. So surprised it is that soon, as I can't have any treatment until I am healed. I am a little nervous about that appointment. I should get all the information I need then.
Still on pain pills, but not watching the clock to see if it's time to take another one, but I pretty much know when I've passed the four hours. Still, doing pretty good.

Peggy, so glad you are on the mend. I can't make light of this, as I know it has been frightening and awful for you. Even stubbing my toe can sometimes put me in a panic. But, sounds like you are on the mend and I am so very happy to hear that.
