Well it is summer and I have not really had any fun. Don't get me wrong having warm hands is nice but... My back has been troublesome all summer and the time has come that I have to have some surgery soon. Have not been at work in over two weeks and surgery is still a ways out. I am anxious to get it over it and get back to work and fun. Hopefully the rehab/recovery will be fast and supposedly it is. Just wanted to catch you guys up.
Hope you all are enjoying the warn weather. Fall will be here soon enough.
I am still sort of trying to explore botox for the Rayanud's Just curious at this point. Anybody out there with info on this process? Found lots of people that have had injections for "beauty" and a couple people that have had injections in their necks for migraines, as I understand it that has worked for some. Just really curious about the hands.

Back surgery is coming up soon but not soon enough. Can't take advil etc. and it is taking its toll this week. Knees are really stiff and feel out of sorts if you will. Just reinforces my theory about my need to keep moving. Looking forward to the surgery being over and hopefully getting back to my normal routine.
On another note I spoke with someone who is going to classes for botox injections and mentioned getting injections for Raynaud's. She seemed interested and said she would look into it at he next class. If it sounds viable I may try to get my left hand done as a test. May be worth a try as I can't stay inside all winter and still work. I am able to somewhat choose my work locations but it would make it easier if I had a bit more Raynaud's resistance.

Well had my surgery yesterday over on Cape Cod, in at 5:30 an released at 11:30 or so. Went back to the hotel, no travel on the boat to the island. Felt pretty good good yesterday. After I returned to the hotel I did 35 minutes walking the hall Today not as spry.hurts a bit more. Hey tomorrow is another day. Just washed out out today. Had a 2nd and 3rd lumbar left discectomy. Oh well this too shall pass. Mostly been sleeping since I got off the boat at noon. Did about 20 minutes in the hall today before traveling Try to do 30 on the treadmill tomorrow and build up from there.

Hope your recovery continues uneventfully and as scheduled!

Thanks Christel. Too much too soon maybe - today was miserable! Slept almost all day today. Feel better tonight though can lay on my back again. See what tomorrow brings. I guess like SD one day at a time.

Yesterday Sat.was mostly awful. Friday was not terrific either. Today there was some improvement. Was able to walk on the treadmill twice. Slow but it all counts. This morning I did 25 minutes at like 2.2 to 2.4 MPH pace. This afternoon I was able to get in 30 min at 2.5 mph pace. See how I feel tomorrow. Hopefully keep the time similar, 30 min, but increase the pace. I usually do 28 to 30 min. at 3.6 MPH pace. See if and how long it will take to get that back. My butt feels sore or a little disjointed if you will not unlike when I started to get back in shape after the SD abated some. I used to see it when I was digging holes or working with my arms and shoulders. Feels the same. When finished at the end of the day it feels like they are not attached, just kind of floppy. We are into 5 weeks now so plenty of down time. hoping for the best.

Went over to the Cape for my post op check up yesterday. Procedure was two weeks ago today. All good news. Leg pain is gone and knees are much more stable. Incision has healed completely, clearance to drive, swim, go back to work (just be careful lifting etc.) use the boat but will try to pick calm days, Doc says about 6 months for scar tissue to completely fill the void, that may not be the proper description. Lower back feels a little sore at the end of the day. Back to doing the treadmill at lunch and did 30 minutes at the 3.6 pace. Getting in about 6 to 7 hours a day at work so far, may have done a little too much today, will know tomorrow morning huh. I think it is fine though. It really feels good to get back to moving around. With the SD I have always felt that I need to keep moving, the five weeks of not moving much were trying. Having pain behind my knees and upper calves but less each day. It feels so good to be up, out and about. BUT really watching my step and pay attention to my routes from here to there.

Woohoo! So good to hear, Jeff! Somehow I imagine there will be plenty of lighter work and chores to do as you continue to heal. Don’t go too crazy just yet! Glad the pain is improved/gone, too.
Enjoy this “last weekend of summer”..😳

Sad the summer is wrapping up. Maybe fall will be nice. And yes I did over do yesterday not too bad but stiff today. I kind of got stuck with this particular project but I am REALLY hoping I can figure out what the heck the meathead handy andy homeowner electrician did on this project quickly this morning. Enjoy the long weekend everybody.

Recovery continues - good and not as good days but hopefully improving inside all the time. Pain level is by and large very low but not being able to be at work as much and as active as normal is trying. Walking a lot!

Still trying to balance work and recovery. Good days and not as good days. I can bend at the waist better with less pain but if I twist right or left it moves stuff around back there. Trying to REALLY watch my movements etc. and still get some work done. Just need to be able to move well again and it is up to me. Walking still really helps and have consistently been logging 3.5 to 4 miles a day, it really does help.
Getting cold here, well in the low 50s. Sad to see the warm go!

Way too long again since I’ve been here. Recovery sure gets slower at certain ages, doesn’t it?
I’ve been dragging, too, and don’t have ambition for much of anything. The colder days are surely adding to the situation. Just wait til next weekend-dark by 6 in these parts. Yuck. I really need to get it together!

Hi Jeff,
I thought I'd check in, and I see that you are recovering??? From what?
Tadalafil (Cialis): I have been taking 10mg twice daily for years now for 5 good reasons (Raynauds, finger tip ulcer solution/prevention, peripheral neurapothy, PAH prevention, and ED). The Rx has helped in reducing the characteristics of these SD complications. Thankfully, I have not had any PAH complications although I remain a high risk RNA Polymarase III SD type. But interestingly, I realized that I was having equilibrium and balance issues that I realized were possibly a side effect of the Tadalafil. So I stopped taking the Rx for a while and I certainly found the equalibrium and balance issues are no longer noticeable. I will probably return to taking Tadalafil, but possibly at 10mg once per day.
