Okay guys and gals, I had some significant calcinosis removed from right thumb this morning. Entire arm is still numb from block they used and I have a bulky splint/dressing on whole forearm. I definitely am feeling handicapped since I am also right-handed, of course!
Will keep you all posted...

Did you get to bring the calcinosis home in a jar? That would be kind of cool.
Seriously hope you are doing well. When they did my shoulder last winter they did the block and general too. Doc said the block should last several hours, at least until I was back home. It lasted well into the next day. Please keep us up to date.

Sorry for being out of touch. Thumb is doing fine. I asked to see calcium but it had already been whisked off to lab. My latest major problem is the gi problem I have had since yesterday am. Have been able to just have a cup of broth and some water tonight. First thing to stay in. Weak to beat the band. Headache too.
It's the pits. More when I'm up to it. C.

Hope the GI issue resolves quickly. Glad the thumb is not too much a problem.

Thumb is progressing well. GI issues pretty much resolved--thankfully! Now to get through this miserable cold spell we are having...it's always something!
Stay warm, scleroderma friends!

Glad you are feeling better christel. That tummy stuff is no fun. Good to get all that bad stuff out of the way and get on with Christmas plans.

Sutures came out yesterday without problems. Surgeon is very pleased with how incision is healing. The entire right thumb is still extremely tender and I am a little hesitant to use it in its full capacity due to this..hope time will lessen the soreness. I have some activities to do in order to get it back in shape.
More info as it becomes available and I remember to post (in case anyone still cares!).

Nice the thumb is healing up. My calcinosis spots used to heal well but I never had to have any cut out... ouch! Mine were more like pimples. The digital ulcers were another story though. I had one that finally began to heal and then I cut open it at work. Glad those are gone.
Now you can use both hands to open all those gifts!

Gee, Jeff, I never thought of gifts...am actually more anxious to get some baking done! I have been stocking up on ingredients for a while now. Just love the smells of the season, especially if it has to be cold out--at least the contrast with cozy ambience is there!

Whatever floats your holiday boat Christel. Opening presents, cooking or anything that you enjoy, may it be pain free.
