well...it's been a crazy couple of months and I'm sorry I haven't been on much....started out that I messed my back up lifting a tv over a bannister...gave this huge 52" projector tv away...that put me into pt every couple of days.... then for some reason I got really sick in my stomach...what I thought was a bug that caused it.....came back last week and put me in the walk in clinic....so painful in the gut and come to find out...after testing and xrays...I became totally and completely blocked up.....I've so far tried about everything...exlax....fleet..........and now I'm on this stuff that comes in a gallon jug you have to drink....nothing has worked up to now...... not sure what is coming next cuz when I get super backed up...my gut hurts like crazy.....and I start tossing everything in my stomach violently.....
hope everyone is better than me....

Well that does not sound very comfortable Steve. I would guess at this point they don't know what is causing all this distress. At any rate feel better soon.
I have not been on much either. We are in our busy time of the year finishing up a few projects so people can move in for the summer. In addition I had a few boat projects that took a bit longer than I hoped. I just finished putting on the zincs and it is all back together. I am scheduled to launch Tuesday after work if it all goes according to plan. It is blowing hard here yesterday and today so I am not missing much BUT the fishing has been good and I have missed that. Maybe next weekend. Have you managed to get out much?

anyway..sounds like me ..getting things done..work has been a bear with new customer intro's of the 787 and also going to all my danged pt sessions for the back...but I did get the boat all ready and de-winterized ...she's ready for sea...got her out a few times ....once with me and a buddy for some whale watching....and then another time for a few hrs with marsha..this is her first time on the boat since last r after we wrecked the boat...so..she was nervous but at least she's trying...... I was planning our 4th of july week off in the canadian gulf islands but with my stomach and all...it just isn't going to happen ..... other than that the weather hasn't cooperated out here either.......
good luck with getting the boat out.....let us know how the first cruise goes...

Hi Nancy... well....had some blood work done last nite...the results came back and according to the doc the blood slide smear was not a good sample and yet it showed immature blood cells that indicates one of several things....either I have a raging infection in my gut or I have a blood cancer going on...I see 2 docs on friday to try and find out what heck is going on in my gut....
I'll let you guys know when I find out.....did anyone have gut issues when their SD was active???
mine was so long ago I can't remember exactly what sd did to me....I think I remember some gut issues but I was thinking it was from the cytoxan...

I was in the hospital in January for about a week. I had stomach pain and started to vomit brown liquid. I thought it must be from the chocolate chip cookie i had eaten. As the day progressed the vomiting became more severe. At about 9pm finally went to emerg. vomiting every couple of minutes. It was looked just like brown coffee grounds. It was blood. After cat scan of stomach, diagnosis was mild obstruction of the small bowel. No real obstruction but the muscels in a couple of places have become very weak, causing everything to slow down. I was put on daily iv doses of panteloc as well as iv fluids for 4 days, nothing by mouth. I was a bit constipated when all of this started. I started taking milk of magnesia and a stool sofener. All of this was caused by cellcept. My doctor said it was the biggest reason people have to quit taking it. Too many side effects causing stomach issues. Now my stomach is much better or I am controlling it better. I know if my stomach feels alittle slugish and I have some pain its a signal to eat very little for the day. My stomach seems to catch up again and I am fine for awhile. I quit taking cellcept. It didnt feel right from the beginning. I should have listened to my instincts. Cellcept also caused me to be admitted to the hospital with renal crisis again. Just not the drug for me. Thats my sclero stomach story. Hope everything turns out well for you Steve.

I had the watermelon stomach issue back when. That resulted in a very low hemoglobin number, around 7.0 IIRC or about half of normal. It did not result in any "backups" though. At the time my slide showed no broken up red cells but very few red cells so my doc felt I was bleeding somewhere.
My wife suffered with a bout of Drug Induced Lupus, not caused by an antibiotic but strangely enough a drug that is not supposed to cause DIL. That resulted in a pretty much non existent white count. She is not on any other meds so the doc told her to stop the drug and her white count began to climb in just a few days.
Hopefully it is not sclero related and just something simple. Good luck Steve.

Hi Guys/Gals well..yesterday was insane...3 docs....3 appts...3 different clinics....morning was dr. hecker...gastrointerologist....he took copeous amounts of notes and had me do the poop sample....finally got that back to the lab sometime about 7pm.....then about an hr later I had to go to my Rhummy...we discussed the blood work I did during the week and how my numbers were running along all nice and normal and then the last week just tanked....no kidding...my red count dropped to the floor..which scared the crap out of him and marsha....so...that's why we had to go see the cancer doc after Shawn....my stomach was killing me all day and while waiting for shawn...i had to run to the bathroom to go pee...well..surprise of surprises..I had to poop too...turned out soft serve just like misty our new sheltie.....when she had Giardia....same color...same consistancy!!!(where else on the internet can you talk about poop with a straight face)... so...we discussed it and the fact that my ana panel was normal....just the other stuff was tanked...indicating one of 3 things.....cancer of the blood....stomach ulcer...or massive infection....I'm now positive I have giardia.......
well..after shawn's visit...we ran uptown to Dr. Jiang...cancer center...where he looked at the notes from everyone and said...you don't have blood cancer....you either have infection....or ulcer....but no blood cancer.....
so...got home with a poop sample test kit and about 6:30 had a blow down and actually got enough to sample.....took that to the lab and we're waiting for the results.....I'm convinced it's giardia or some other infection......
that's where we're at...I spent most of yesterday after we got back from all the doc's appts on the can or in bed.....hadn't been a fun day ....next is an echo of the entire stomach track and then an endoscope and colonoscopy....gotta love it..I hope they don't use the same camera for both ends...

Parasites - what fun but cancer is a nice thing to rule out. When my wife had DIL her doc was in the oncology dept at the hospital and that was sobering to say the least. I was very relieved when he told her it was not cancer. My blood loss from watermelon stomach was more gradual, not all of a sudden. I'm sure that made for a long day with all those visits but at least you are narrowing the cause down. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I take it, Steve, your feeling better too....no blood cancer is enough to have anyone feel better! I hope they can get to the bottom of this and elevate it happening again.

well one test came back neg...they say it's not giardia ....probably not cancer...but could be a bleeding ulcer in the upper GI track.....I have to endure an endoscopic procedure and then just for fun the colonoscopy...I'm hoping I can be knocked out and they can do both at the same time.... hopefully not using the same camera......
I'll let you know how it goes....

It will be interesting to see what they find. Maybe you do have some GAVE going on. I had the two procedures done and it was a piece of cake. It was done first thing in the morning and after I went home had something to eat and went back to work. Have you been on any anti inflammatory?

well...that wasn't fun....I got up for work yesterday and marsha said I looked terrible....took my shower and went in....bout lunch time we came home as always and she jumped on the phone and called the doc....after discussing my condition ....we ended up with the aid car taking me to ER...they felt I was loosing too much blood .....so...in the ER for about 4 hrs where they plug me in...shoot me up with pain meds and something else for nausea....and send me home....... where I crashed all nite long....poor marsha has been going crazy with this and worked her butt off trying to deal with the administrative part of me and the medical docs and all...
so...monday they finally moved the endo/colonoscopy up to 10:30am to find out what is going on with me......
while in the er..they took a gallon of my blood to test and found that it was exactly the same as a week ago.....so...don't know why I felt like crap..........
that's the latest..... I know that this is supposed to be routine on monday...but the way my luck has been going....I'm not sure what the heck will happen....so...if you don't hear from me ever again....(god knows why but anything is possible)....everyone take care of each other and know I love you all........I know!!!!...I know!!!!.....it's just an endo/colo procedure....but I just wanted to say.....just in case ....I never know what the heck is going on anymore....
