I was wondering if any of you have had the skin on your palms tighten and your calves feel tight. I keep flexing them to stretch them but it seems like they keep tightening up again. Sharon

No just feels like the muscle is pulling. Its a different feeling then when a person turns up the toes.

When my SD as first acting up I was beginning to have trouble making a fist - still do but better. I initially thought it was my palms but now am pretty sure it is the thickened skin on the undersides of my fingers between my palm and first joint. Are you guys saying that your palms are tight? Mine were hands were swollen but mostly the backs the palms never looked much different. The skin on the back was very tight from the swelling. What do your palms look like? I did have the hands in broken glass feeling but think that was due to swelling and the swelling was affecting the nerves.

My palms feel more dry than tight but I do stretch them. I went to OT for a bit and was given exercises which has helped keep the fingers moving. I too can't make a fist....some days it is better than others. I'm constantly putting a cream with beeswax and Vaseline in it that has helped.
As to the legs, I get the cramping and felt it was muscle related. I make sure I eat bananas for the potassium and take vit. That has helped a lot.

Oh my gosh Sharon! I know EXACTLY the feeling you are referring to- my calves used to be so tight and I would try to describe it to others and would say it was like the stretching of a rubber band past it's point of flexibility. Fortunately, once I started on the mino my skin (including calves) really softened up and I don't have the sensation anymore.- Adriane

YUP!!! I used to have that terrible tight, swollen, hot, broken glass feeling in my hands and arms. The tightness in the palms and fingers is what made my hands curl.
My legs were never as bad but my legs and feet were swollen and starting to get hard. Again, once I got on the mino and the skin started to soften, all that went away. Not over night, mind you, took time, but is gone now.
