My oh my, what a day yesterday was!! I have a better understanding.. ...of what a flare up is! Yesterday, I couldn't move a single joint without deep pain. My fingers were red and so swollen we couldn't move my wedding band. Oh did I ever hurt. Having been on penicillin for 7 days as well as having a test the day before, we thought it might be connected so I stayed put in bed and my dear hubby helped me force fluids...no better. So last night went to the ER...battery of blood work and the like. The conclusion was that it was a flare up due to all my body had been through the last four or five days. Needless to say, I'm off the penicillin! I refused pred. for sure didn't want to start on that again so got half a pill of vicadin to help with the pain and home I went. Look, today I'm typing ...and forcing fluids again and the other half of the vicadin! Oh, I sure don't want to go through that again! It has defiantly quieted down. I now can really feel for you folks who talk of pain joints and flair-ups! Sure am glad today is a new day!! grammie

Glad you are feeling better. Years ago I had a flu like something that was miserable. As I lay in bed every place on my body that I had ever injured was screaming at me. Places that had not hurt in a long time but the flu thing really brought it all back. I would hate to get that now after the SD because I think I would REALLY hurt now. Seems like yours was too linked to physical stress, the body is most curious.
Feel better. Did you guys have a good day up there. It was real nice here maybe hit 40 with bright blue skies. Even got the motorcycle out for an hour or so.

Grammie, So sorry you had such a bad flare! Glad you feel better today. I hate it when I get a flare. Like you, everything hurts. My bad luck is that, for me, vicodin is like eating candy. No use at all. Glad they helped you!

Grammie-so sorry you had to go thru that! Glad that it is behind you now!
Unfortunately, somethings going on in me for almost 3 weeks now and the doctor- after MANY bloodtests- still can't figure out if it's a sclero flare up or something else like a virus. The tests are coming back with conflicting info. After 2 weeks of wanting to die from the awful pain and discomfort I finally agreed to go back on steroids. I'm not happy about it- but I was running out of options. Glad you were able to avoid them and I hope you are now back in the swing of things. Take care of yourself!-regards, Adriane

Hi all, Thanks for your responces. Today is wonderful. I am almost back to myself with just a little bit of weakness in the hands and left knee. I feel so "normal" today that we both are so surprised how fast it hit and how fast it has left me. I don't care the reasons, we're just thanking the Lord for the fast recovery!
Yes Jeff, it was a lovely day but the wind sure does keep the temp down. Out of the wind, the sun felt like a spring coming sun! We did see a few snowmobiles on the lake, ice fishing, and ice skaters and walkers. It is fun to see the activity.

Grammie, so glad you're feeling better today. Though I can't identify with such pain, I really feel for you because I felt discomfort in many other ways. Thanks for being so responsive to me as a new member. Linda

GRAMMIE AND AAJMOM: What worked wonder for me was NEURONTIN. Be cautious, tho, I took really really high doses. Most people don't need them as high as I did, but give it a try if your doc will give you the rx.

Went to rhymie today and he said that some of the strong antibiotics can cause the painful joints like I had experienced. I'm staying away from them from now on....weaker over longer time for me!!
