My pulmonologist is putting me on revatio for Pulmonary hypertension. I experience shortness of breath and suffer from fatigue. Been diagnosed with SD since 2003. If there is anyone on revatio now, what are your side effects? I would like to know more about this drug before I start on it.
Thank you
Carolyn

Carlolyn I'm sure others will pipe up ...for me....the only thing it did for me was make me RANDY!!...not the other randy here but you know!!.....had to take a ton of cold showers....Marsha got tired of me bugging her and begged the doc to take me off of it..... ;D
really...for me it was for the reynauds....didn't do anything but keep me and my little friend awake at nite...in the day....morning...didn't matter....he was awake...

Ravatio (which is the same as Viagra) has FDA approval for PAH and Raynauds. I currently use Adcirca (which is the same as Cialis) for the same purposes. Many females take Ravatio for Raynauds, which I was told was the marketing reason for giving it a name different than Viagra. The Cialis is cheaper for me and I don't have to take as much. It certainly has helped keep my fingertips from getting ulcers. Since you are obviously not taking Ravatio for erectile dysfunction, a very common curse of auto immune diseases, there is no need to comment on that.

Hi Carolyn. I've been taking Revatio for more than three years in combination with Tracleer for pulmonary hypertension. I haven't had any appreciable negative side effects. The two drugs together have improved the PH quite a bit. My rt heart cath last July showed the pressures in my heart and lungs had decreased almost to normal ranges. The squeezing function of my heart increased from pumping about 1/4 of normal capacity to now 3/4 of what is normal. This was compared to my 2007 numbers. I had taken the Tracleer for about 5 years before my new doc added the Revatio. I think the combination therapy really helped me. Ask your doc about the Tracleer as well--but it is very expensive. (about $5000 for a 30 day supply). Hopefully your insurance company will approve and pay. If they don't want to pay, there is a non-profit foundation, Caring Voices Coalition that can healp with paying. Hope this helps. Linda

Thank you everyone for your input. I started the drug and at first it gave me real bad headaches and since I'm also on tracleer, I was told to space the drugs out, not to take em at the same time and it does work for me. Also I'm native american Indian, so all my meds are covered and I'm so thankful for that. Have a nice day! Carolyn

Viagra works for me when my fingers get sore (prevention of ulceration). No uncomfortable side effects. No "other" side effects either.....unless my husband cleans the kitchen for me, then, I'll chase him..ha..ha kathleen xo
