this was our first long weekend on the new boat...it was crazy too...
started out that we were going to take off friday from work...which while leaving on thursday would put us into the san juans thursday nite...
when we first got the boat a month and a half ago...this guy walks up to me and say's he does signs and can have the lettering done for my boat for 80 bucks...he gave me a card and after much anguishing between the admirable and myself about a name...at the last minute we came up with "Wild Whim"...which I called the sign guy and he said he could do it...well...after work thursday..we get to the boat and there he is ...wife and brand new Honda hog bike (gorgeous bike by the way)....putting the sign on the back of the boat...unfortunately I think I left the camera on the boat...I'll get it tomorrow after work and down load the photo's and post them here...
but the lettering came out great!!..really looks good...and the best thing is it only cost me 80 bucks installed....
well...after we got it all done and paid for...we dropped the boat in the water...by now the winds have kicked up..waves were about 3 ft on the river and we decided to just stay in Everett for the nite....where we met up with a another boater that was going to spend the weekend with us....they have a gorgeous 35 ft regal...
we made it to the san juan islands in record time..tide was going with us...winds were down....hardly any waves and the new boat just cruised like it wasn't even breathing heard....
we pulled in to the dock and blakely island is just one of the most peaceful places on the planet...don't have to do anything...I can sit there in that harbor for a week and be just as content ..the weather the whole weekend was nothing short of amazing...temps mild...clear as a bell...sunsets to take the breath away......just awesome....
friday evening was a surprise as another couple showed up..2 phillipino friends of ours....then puget mike and his wife virginia showed up later in the evening....we all had a great time saturday where we walked around the air field on the island ...then came back to relax the rest of the day...saturday was go chase the whales day...we had to go to find the killer whales/get lunch and fill the tank of the boat up...we had all of us on the boat except puget mike and virgina who left for roche harbor.....
we did run across the killer whales where we took a mess of photo's and then had a great lunch in friday harbor.....once gassed up we headed back to blakely island for the duration.....
monday tony and tess decided to head home while dale and kate and us stayed at blakely island for the fun of it....we decided to pot luck dinner and some wine...had a great time yacking and just relaxing....
got up this morning to snotty water and a full tide running thru deception pass...for me it was fun...for the girls it was scary....but then once on the other side of oak harbor heading south..the water got ugly...4 ft waves and high winds...we finally got into everett exhausted and sorry the weekend had to end.....
we're already looking fwd to the 4th of july 9 days of nothing but cruising and relaxing up in the canadian gulf islands...
hope everyone had a great memorial weekend.......we sure did...now I gotta pay the piper and go back to work...uffdah!!
