Granted I have a fairly severe case of raynauds (and it is the middle of Jan in NY)- but I was wondering if anyone's nose is effected when they eat cold food. Unfortunately, in this weather I really can't eat anything cold or from the fridge (I have to let the food become room temp before I eat it)- but just recently I was noticing that when I do eat something that's kind-of-cold the tip of my nose gets really cold (along with my other body parts that go into spasm). I'm finding that it's just ONE MORE THING TO CONTEND WITH!!- and I usually find myself running for the blowdryer to blow hot air on my face. Does anyone else have this?
Each year the winter gets harder and harder to deal with- maybe a warm, sunny place is not too unrealistic! Thanks all- Adriane

My tongue turns blue and I can hardly talk. It is the most painful part of raynauds for me.

My nose (and ears) have been very sensitive for quite a few years. A new development that I have noticed in the past few months is that my nose gets blue on the tip!! Living in MI makes these things a challenge for me, too.

my right hand is permanently damaged from raynauds....my right thumb and 1st 2 fingers are affected and are subject to cold temps...very painful......so..I have to keep it warm and protected...I'm not that good at it but it's better than what I was 10 yrs ago...

Living in NY I also suffer severly from Reynaud's, actually this has been my worst year. When I am at home even with the heat on and dressing warm I use an electric blanket to try and keep warm. I have been fighting with the insurance company to help pay for Revatio that Dr. T, in Boston says he has seen really good results with. The battle is on, I need to get some relief.

It seems I have been having a tough time with it this winter. When I saw my sclero doc last month, he said it was rather diffuse.
I have problems with my nose and ears being affected, but never noticed if eating cold things bothered my nose. I will pay attention the next time I eat something cold.
Kathy I am sorry to here that your tongue is affected, that must be terrible.
Take care Sammie

adriane...sorry your having such discomfort. I feel the same way about my ears. If I don't keep covered (during bitter weather in CNY) they become almost "brittle feeling" along the edges (ears). As far as eating cold foods....well....you are talking to the expert of "eating a delicious bowl of your favorite ice cream" while sitting in the comfy chair with mittens to hold the bowl and a heating pad behind me so as not to get chillled!!!! Can you visualize??? Not a pretty sight....Oh, I forgot to mention, that I am also usually wearing my huge polartec bright red robe during this desperate process to eat my treat...Sclero will not take away my ICE CREAM!!! My husband must realllllly love me.... kathleen xoxoxo

I eat ice cream in the summer with mittens! What I"ve noticed about my nose is that it runs when I eat hot/cold foods. It is most frustrating to sit with tissues at the table!!! I don't know if it is Raynauds or not but it came about just a year or so ago!

oh yes, the nose running thing--I always have tissues close by. My husband tells me all he has to do to find me is follow the trail of tissues I often leave behind... I will really try to work on not littering with those for the new year!!!

I took ADALAT which is a calcium channel blocker for my Raynauds. I have been off it for many months now. I usually don't have problems because I live in California. However, I did notice the cold weather in Delaware over Christmas did create more symptoms. Now that I am back home, no more problems.

Lucky you! When I was visiting in the San Fransico area it rained and was cold...my raynauds told me about it! Nothing like wearing mittens the whole time there....glad I brought two pairs!
