Cubby, I am interested in the process of Photopherisis (sp?) and wonder if you know if this is covered by most insurance. If not, do you know about how much the process costs? It has been very positive for you along with AP, I know. Nancy Blake

Cubby is on the road for a few days. I'm sure she will catch up with you when she gets back online and give you the low down.

Yes, that will do it! As long as they are approved by the FDA. I think I could afford that. Nancy B.

NANCY: Hi!!! sorry it took so long to respond. The treatments cost $12,000 per session. A session is two days in a row. My hospital, USC, is in network with my insurance. I have a PPO so I can go anywhere but it is cheaper if I go to a network hospital. Anyway, the insurance network cost goes down to less than $3,000 for that $12,000 cost. Then, I pay a portion of that, I think it is 10%, can't remember. But, I pay between$600 to $700 out of pocket. I do know one person who is fighting right now to get it covered. It is an unsual situation where his UNION rep, controls his access to the insurance company and that person denied the treatment stating it is "experimental". IT IS NOT EXPERIMENTAL, so hopefully, the man will win his appeal.
Absolutely, the Photopheresis and AP together have worked a miracle on me! Let me know what else I can help you with.

Thank you Cubby for the information. I have not answered because I was in hospital for 6 days. Ok now, but do not want to go there again! You are very lucky, but it still costs you a lot! I am taking Letairis for PAH which costs $5,132 a month, but it is taking care of through a Foundation which helps people with PAH, Huntington's Disease, and 2 others. It remains to be seen if it will help PAH. I don't know about Photopherisis. I think I would have some fight to get that, but thank you anyway. Nancy B.

Well, I pay about $600 to $700 each time I get treatment which is now about every 10--12 weeks. But, once I reach my cap for the year which is something like $4.500,then I don't pay anything. Now, I don 't even reach my cap.
