Bear with me- I HAVE to take the folowing meds- syntheroid, iron, TUMS, minocycline. TUMS blocks the absortion of everything, iron blocks the mino. And then theirs the dairy issue. I only take mino on MF. Is a two hour space between these meds good enough or should I skip the iron on MF and double up on the other days. I guess I need to get totally off dairy? What about fat free organic milk on the off days. I had my thyroid removed and my calcium levels can easily drop if I'm not careful- that's why they put me on TUMS and it has always worked. I'm concerned that being on these offending drugs even on my days off will keep the ap from workinf. In the meantime I'm gluten free and trying to go sugar free. I also have osteo. (As a side note when I was first diagnosed with Lupus I got off the sugar and could tell a hugh differenc in energy levels) I just got back on dairy after many years and was really loving it. HELP Please.

My Doc tells me to take my mino two hours after food and then two hours before food. I take my multi-vit and other "additives" with breakfast. These pills include two Calcium. Two hours later I take my mino, then two and half hours it is lunch lime. I eat lunch take three or four probiotics along with a milkthistle pill. Mid afternoon I take my prilosec. Then about a half hour before bed I take my second mino of the day. To my knowledge you do not have to give up calcium for mino to be effective. Just don't have any calcium (pills, dairy products, Tums, anything with calcium) within that two hour before and after mino window. When I was on iron I remember it was hard to fit it in but I was able to. I don't remember what I did timing wise with the mino and other things though.
That is my understanding anyway and what I have done. The mino has worked for me so far. Hope it does for you.

Thanks Jeff that helps since that is how you have done it and it works for you. By the way I have felt unbelievably and uncharacteristically (sp?) good today and I have only had 2 mino pills because I only take one a day for now. Coincidence? Also what brand of probiotics is everyone using? And what's up with the milkthistle? Is that for the liver? One more thing. I replied to the other e-mail you sent me. Hope you got it because I didn't want you to think I was rude. I'm notorious for accidently losing or deleting e-mails after I send them. Lynn

Chosen - Got the PM I had just not gotten to it yet. Thanks. The milk thistle is for my liver I am just trying to be proactive.
In my case I have found that my condition will take a step up and then slide back some, but not as bad as before. The good thing is that in time that temporary high point will become the norm. Sounds confusing but that has how it has been for me. It started with a good day or two now and then, after a bit I would find I was having more and more good days in a row. Slow but steady.
Hope the mino works for you too!

CHOSEN: I try to space out my pills about 2 hours apart, when possible. Also, take the minocin 2 hours before or after DAIRY. I actually never did that till I was on the minocin about 3 years. Ask your doc. I don't take probiotics but I do eat Yogurt every day.
