My gastroenterologist would like me to have a Hydrogen Breath Test. Has anyone had one of these before? I'm just wondering what to expect.
Thanks!

Hey Mum - I searched Hydrogen Breath Test and found this. www.medicinenet.com/hydrogen_breath_test/article.htmI'm not sure if this is indeed your test but if it is I does not seem too bad. Sounds like you would just blow up balloons. But then again even going in for any test is no fun. But if you find out anything that may be helpful for your treatment it is a good thing in my view. Good luck with your test.

Thanks for your replies. It certainly sounds non-invasive which is great. The doctor suspects my bowels may be a bit sluggish which could cause me to have bacterial dysbiosis which I am assuming this test measures.

MUMOF3: As a young person, I always had IBS. Kept me skinny as a rail. (dashing to potty constantly). After I turned 50, had the OPPOSITE problem. Not many trips to potty. Sooooo now, my GI has me on AMITIZIA. Works WONDERS for that "sluggish bowel". Ask your doc!
