Hey everyone, I haven't been on lately. Been busy with cottage life, appt's and not feeling too great lately.
Well, two of my Rhuemy's have agreed to give me the scripts I need to start AP (more $$ for them). The unfortunate part is that neither knows about it and they want me to tell them which protocol I want to do?? I did get the Henry Scammel book but haven't been able to read it yet.
As I've mentioned in past posts, I cannot take tetracycline, took it yrs ago for acne and am too sensitive to it. It bothered my stomach way too much. I've been dealing lately with more gi issues so I can't take a chance.
I know it was mentioned that there are different types of anti-biotics out there that are also being used. I will read the book, contact the RBF to see if there are any dr's in my area (Ontario Canada) who actually know about AP.
I've been left in a lurch right now where I have to be my own advicate (which I'm totally fine with and agree to) but now to be telling dr's what rx's I want to be on for treatment is a little too much for me. Ijust don't feel comfortable doing this, maybe when I learn more about it.

I'd start with minocycline...since tetracycline is sensative too your system...minocyline is an acceptable substitute....for most..that is the Antibiotic of choice......100mgx2/day.....you can start out lower..but the 100mgs is kinda standard......now when i took it ...I had massive GI issues.....so....with that said...for about the first 6 mos I guess....I felt worse....but then all of a sudden ...everything cahnged and I started feel tons better.....eating better...and all really helps....
oh yeah...I see your on aspirin....I'd stop that ...it's known to cause ulcers in the stomach lining....

Steve, did you have massive GI issues because of the scleroderma or because of the mino? My mom has massive GI issues - Thanks!

Thanks Steve, I have questioned all of my docs regarding the asprin and was told to stay on it for my Raynaud's. My GI dr also knows and never said to stop.

LINDAR: 100 mg of Minocin, or the generic, Minocyclene 2 x a day. If possible, try to get the Minocin, but if cost is a factor, get the Minocyclene.
