Hello to all! I am just now getting around to signing on to this board, thank you to those who created it.
I have kept in touch with a couple of you (you know who you are) but have been really, really, busy.
About the same time that the old SD Foundation board switched to Inspire, my house burned down and life has been upside down ever since. That was almost five months ago. We are now rebuilding. We are lucky that everyone was safe and not too many precious things were lost. The garage was totally consumed and everything else was heavily smoke damaged, but all the photos are restorable.
I have missed keeping up with all of you, and to the newcomers, Hello. I will not be here often, but just wanted to log in and say Hi. I hope you all are still continuing to get well. Jess is doing great. She is working in an immunology research lab this summer and learning all about the immune system.
I miss you all,
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl.
Glad you made it to the board. Wow, so sorry about your house. My brother and his family went through that about 3 years ago. They lost EVERYTHING! My brother, sister inlaw and 2 neices lived in a double wide mobile home and within 52 min it was completely gone! So I know how hard it is to get back on your feet. Atleast everyone is safe.
Look forward to catching up with you.
Hugssss Terri

Terri,
Wow, I am sorry for your brother's loss of their family's home. Wee are really lucky because only the garage, laundry room and a bath were really burned. We lost all of our collected Christmas items, but it is just stuff. We have good insurance, and they are paying for our alternative living arrangements in a really nice rental house. At this point it is a mere inconvenience, but there are good parts too, like new carpe and new couches, so I am not complaining (well not too much).

Cheryl, SOOO glad you're here! I'm terribly sorry about your house! When I was a kid our house burned down- now I get really freaked about fire. Glad everyone is OK- that's the most important thing.
What a great thing for Jess- maybe she'll help find a cure for this disease!! xoxox- Adriane

Cheryl F. How nice to hear from you. I have been wondering where you were not seeing your name on the RBF board for a long time. I am so sorry to hear about your fire. So many fires in California - my niece's house, that they rented, in Novato, CA burned down to the ground while she was away, luckily. Her husband had just died from a exceedingly fast progression of ALS which was terrible enough. He was President of ALS Research Foundation, and determined to find a cure before he had to go. Scleroderma doesn't seem so bad. Stay healthy. Nancy

Thanks all for the warm welcome back! Seriously, not to discount the trauma of fire, but at this point, if I told you about how nice my new kitchen will be you wouldn't feel one bit sorry for me. We are doing a few little upgrades with the reconstruction, so I am taking lemons and making pink lemonade. Cheryl,
Welcome here. Nice to here from you.
Great article about Jess!
The article was so "short and sweet!" Of course we all know that fighting SD is anything but short and sweet, and the AP is anything but short and sweet. But here is a great testimony published for the public to read and learn that there is a cure for SD. Yes, Jess is our poster girl! By chance are there any doctors who live in Loomis and can read?
Thank you again Cheryl for all you do, and thank you Jess for being such an awesome fighter and competitor to this terrible disease. What a champion!
We certainly need as much publicity as possible to make folks aware that there is a very viable option out there. Hopefully soon AP will be standard American College of Rheumatology protocol. Hopefully we won't have to wait for Jess to become a doctor and kick some butt around.

Sorry about your house and all the inconveniences, but so thankful that no one was injured and that you will be rebuilding something even better. Take care!

The new cabinets arrived today, we got a new garage door yesterday, and the house is painted on the inside. The stucco is coming along too. It is really coming along. It is getting really excited. I will be so excited I won't be able to speak when they install my new appliances. We are really treating ourselves with top of the line appliances and two diswashers (and no I don't mean my husband and daughter).
Hope all is well with all of you. Just stopping by to read and catch up on all of the goings on and steve's humor.

Cheryl, Your daughter is beautiful. So glad for her and happy to get the "word out" about scleroderma. I am so sorry to read about your house fire. You enjoy those "top shelf" appliances... Kathleen
