I asked this on my Forum also. What does everyone think of Plaquenil for Lupus or Scleroderma? My doctor wants me to start it and I'm not thrilled about it yet. Is there alot of good about it those who take it may know thanks? Any input is appreciated. Hugs, Sharon

Im not sure if i can help but i have morphea - localizd scleroderma, and im on plaquinil. I have my eyes checked once a year, been on it for a year and so far i dont have any problems handleing it or my eyes have been fine. My joints seem to be quite a bit better and my skin seems to be softening in an area where it wasnt softening. middle lower back. That has been my brief experince with plaquinil. Im still on it till i either have problems or it stops working. But it seems to be helping. Sharon

I took it for 10 years for Lupus before I was dx with SD. I finally had to go off of it because I was starting to get some retina damage. I was sent to a retinal specialist and he determined I neede to stop. After I stopped taking the retinal changes went back to normal.
I was not happy to go off of the plaquenil as it helped me quite a bit. In fact it wasn't too long after that when I was dx with SD.

It slowed the progression of my sd. I had to stop taking it to prevent violating study protocol; sd sped up and pain levels increased.
