Last Friday June 26 I had severe vomitting stomach pain and fever. I ended up being taken by ambulance to the hospital. I was given morphine tylenol and gravol. They kept me overnight on Saturday for observation and I was released on Sunday morning. While in the hospital they did a catscan of my stomach and everything looked fine. I have seen the sclero doc as well as my rhumatologist they think I had food poisoning or the flu. It has been a week and my stomach is just starting to not bother me. What do you think? Does this sound like the beginning of a sclero problem or could it have really been something else? Kathy

Kathy - I had an episode of GAVE or watermelon stomach and in my case I had no vomiting or fever associated with it. I know there are other SD related digestive issues but I have not experienced anything but GAVE so I don't know what the symptoms of those are. It does sound like food poisoning or flu, I'm glad you are feeling better. I guess just keep and eye on things. I'm sure otheres will chime in with additional and opinions info soon.

I was bleeding from the esophagus (GERD)and stomach at one point(Watermelon stomach) and was never like that. Sounds like good ole fashioned food poisoning. Do you have a GI doc? Is it time for an endoscopy and colonoscopy?

Hi everyone, I am just starting to get some energy back. The muscle pain I was dealing with for the past 2 months is gone. I amstill a little shaky on my legs but I think with exercise it will resolve itself. My stomach pain is gone I just have a feeling of fullness. After I finish eating it feels like everything is sitting just below the breast area. Skin tightening is continuing. Not sure what to think. My fingers had started to tighten up again but now are relaxing. Some positives and some negatives. I go to the sclero doc again on Thursday. Thank-you everyone for your thoughts. Kathy

Every few months I get what I used to call a herx when I was taking minocycline. I haven't taken mino for a year because my primary care dr. did not know much about AP. She prescribed it for me, but there was no one to answer my many questions and problems and I stopped taking it while in the hospital for pneumonia and anemia. The drs. there advised me to, but that is their usual line about AP, and it is not what influenced me. I just was taking too many medicines. I intend to start AP again because I think the sclero did not progress while I was taking it. Anyway, last night I experienced another of those attacks - extreme cold, shaking, vomited (2), and then became so hot I put a wet towel on my head, but no pain, except it scared me. After about an hour I was ok. It sounds like food poisoning, but my husband ate the same dinner with salmon, and he was fine. So what do you think? Is this a build up of too many medicines? I am taking a new medicine, Letairis, but have been taking that for 2 1/2 months with no trouble. Mine sounds like Kathygirl except I had no pain. Nancy
