Hi all. I can't remember if I posted this before, forgive my memory if I did previously. Tomorrow we're on our way to Charleston, SC to have a procedure to fix my sphincter of odi which is a very tiny muscle that opens & closes to allow liver & pancreas to drop enzymes into digestive track. Well when this very tiny muscle gets tightened by sclero, well, it makes you very, very sick because the enzymes back up & causes pancreatitus. It feels a bit like a gallbladder attack that won't go away. I've seen posts somewhere about others who have had their gallbladder out and still have the same pain. I just want you all to know that sclero can (and does) cause all different parts of the body to tighten. This is probably a more uncommon problem, and I hope there aren't very many people experiencing it, but if you are, you might want to mention it to your gastro doc. The doc I'm seeing in Charleston is the co-writer of the textbook and after 10 years of negative CT scans, MRI's, MRA's and a couple of endoscopies I am praying we found "the" man who will make my world a LOT easier to live in. This disease has sooo many complications that too many doctors don't understand. He's going to perform an ERCP and open up the sphincter to allow the enzymes to flow as needed so they won't back up anymore. This is #2 procedure for me cause the 1st doc who did it didn't want to cut me because he couldn't "see" the problem. I hope I making some sense here. I've taken a pain med but wanted to be sure to post with the hope of making someone else not feel crazy as some have tried to tell me I was. If they can't see "it" "it" must not exist is how too many drs. look at those of us with "special" (and I am special!) issues!!! LOL OK Long story ending. Procedure is set for Tues at 11 am. Any good thoughts, prayers, smiles would be appreciated! ;D Thanks for being here when I need you! xo Michele

It is truly amazing to me the things that SD can find in our bodies to screw up. Good luck with your issues. Hang in there and heal fast. P.S. - Michele I sent you a PM a while back - check your messages.

Thanks guys! We made it to Charleston today, a bit road weary, but here! Your good thoughts will help carry me through this!! But only if my husband and the getting lost doesn't do me in before!!! We've been to a LOT of places all over the country, but this one has to be one of the craziest! Even with the sun you can't tell what direction you're going cause the roads keep changing direction! IT is a PRETTY city and we're fortunate enough to be here on the "Tall Ship Harbor Festival"! Steve, I think you'd like this one. Getting lots of pictures! Hopefully I'll be able to post ... if not here I will post on Facebook. Thanks again for the encouragement. We find out on Monday what the Dr. thinks he's going to do & go in on Tues at 11 am. Keeping fingers & toes crossed that this one issue will be gone by Wed! xo Michele PS Jeff ... I'm checking mail now! Tks!

Good luck and I so hope when he gets in there that this is the answer for your pain. Thanks for the heads up on this as like you say everyone is affected differently and if we didn't know something like this exists when it happens no one would know what to do.
God's blessings to you,
Peggy

Again, many thanks for the prayers & kind words. Saw the Dr. yeserday. We see a lot of Drs. in our travels, but I have to tell you .... get with the right one & the red carpet rolls! Funny how that works isn't it??? Anyway, today's the big one & Dr. Cotton felt the saga & pain will be over soon. Don't have any percentages on how long it will stay away after procedure, but if I feel any rumblings of a return I can call him and make an appt & get it corrected without a bunch of MRIs, CTs, or fanfare! YEAH! Ok, maybe a blood test, but whooppeee on relieving that stress!! I guess if you hang in there long enough the good might someday outweigh the bad!!!!! xo to all and thanks again! Michele

Good luck, I will keep you in my prayers.
You were saying that SD can cause all kinds of organ problems. When they still trying to diagnose me, one of the tests they did showed my gall bladder was not functioning properly, so they removed it. The biopsy showed it was inflammed and hardened and I never connected te dots. I was just so upset because I had the surgery and it didn't fix my problems.
Anyhow it sounds like you are in good hands, and hopefully you will be feeling much better.
Sammie
