Well we finally got some nice weather in my corner of the country. Nice is relative as the ocean is still in the low 40s so it won't get really nice for a while yet. Last Sat. dawned warm though to work in the yard without heavy gloves. The winter storms really savaged the cedar tress on the island and our yard was not immune. Loads of downed limbs and trees. So out came the chain saw and then to work. I was making a lot of headway on the trees but I evidently over did, I have been having heel pain in my left foot on and off of late and Sunday morning was very painful. I am guessing that it is from the combination of lack of padding in my heel due to SD and tendon damage also SD related. By Monday it was still very painful but was localizing to a smaller area just to the inside of my heel. I have been rotating my footwear and that appears to be helping. Some. Lots of Advil too.
I went back out yesterday but am limiting my time cutting the trees then moving them down to the brush pile. Today I will stick to projects that don't require so much mileage but still make some progress on different projects.

Make sure you're taking that Advil with food, Jeff! Just some unsolicited advice from someone who was affected by what those NSAIDS can and will do to your gut!
I know how it feels to want to get outside and get busy after a long winter indoors. There is no lack of stuff to do around here, either! Even the projects that didn't get done last season are still here--imagine that!
Pace yourself, and listen to that body that's gotten you this far!

Thanks Christel. I am good with the NSAIDS as I have had a bout with GAVE. Don't need to go back there. The foot feels not too bad this morning, see how it is as the day goes on. Will be on my feet all day today at work but not a lot of mileage involved. Small job space and the truck with my stuff is not far away. Have to see how it goes.
I understand about projects not gotten to. The yard and house fairies never seem to turn up and complete projects in the night. Oh well.

Yup! Or we could all just do what Sophie does and not worry about anything! (Eg. Just hang out and let everyone else worry about how stuff will get done!)

My foot has improved considerably. The pain has localized to a smaller area of my heel and is much more comfortable. Have to see how it goes for the rest of the week.
Christel I wish I could let others worry about things but as long as I can do stuff I think I should. For me I am better off - I think. Within reason of course. This year we just really got whacked by the winter storms. Yuck.
Sophie does look pretty comfortable though, an afternoon like that every now and again may not be a bad thing

If I could put Sophie to work for me, you'd better believe I would! I also can't let things go that I can do...therein lies the problem. Between the fatigue and sheer amount of tasks that need doing, I may always be behind!

Foot is still sore but improved. Purchased some new sneakers and am wearing them at work. I usually wear a hiker style shoe of some sort but am trying to change things up some. I will keep rotating my footwear and see what happens.

As most runners will probably tell you, Jeff, it is good to replace footwear regularly. Shoes do break down and provide less support. (By the way, I am NOT an athlete!).

Glad your foot is getting better!

Foot much improved the past few days. Will the improvement stick? At this point not sure. I have tried two things that may have caused the improvement. I was speaking with one of our inmates here about a month ago and we were speculating about maybe going up a little on my mino dose. so last week I added a MWF evening pill to my usual daily morning dose of 100mg. In addition I happened to switch my advil from tablets to the liquidgells. I had a small bottle I had tried last winter at some point and they seemed to perhaps be a bit more effective. At any rate last time I was buying I purchased the liquidgells. So I have been taking them the past two weeks. In any case for now the foot, my left heel, feels less sore. I will let you guys know how it works out.

Always good to get relief, Jeff. When feet hurt, we're miserable, and not just for those with medical issues. I had a callus removed from my foot on Wednesday, and I feel like a new woman. I can't believe I suffered with that pain and limited mobility for so long before getting it taken care of. I need to get these things addressed sooner when they occur in the future--that's one pain I do not need to live with!

The increased mino dose appears to be helping. I noticed over the weekend that my elbows were stiff for a couple of days, I am thinking die off accumulating in the joints like when I first went on mino. It only lasted a couple of days and now they are fine. This all has me wondering again. The past few months have been very busy and with several changes in my life both work and personal so more stress. My knees and legs have been stiff along with the sore foot for a few months, except for the heel it all kind of crept up on me. I want to think that the increased stress, which a has evened out now, caused a slight increase in pain and discomfort and the three extra doses of mino per week has taken care of things. So I am thinking that I will continue with the extra dosage for the rest of the month then go back to 100mg per day. After that I will stay particularly tuned into new or increasing joint pain and if I notice any I will increase the dosage again temporarily. At least that is my present plan.
Christel glad the callus removal was successful and yes you are right don't hesitate to get things taken care of - why suffer along with some easy to remedy issues. Get them taken care of.

Stress, eh, Jeff? Hard to believe that makes a difference... Perhaps if we all stopped stressing, we'd be just fine! No problem!
