The hospital finally has a visiting Rheumy coming to the island. I have an appointment Monday afternoon. My PCP wants me to have a Rheumy so off I go. I will be interested to see what his take is on AP. Be interesting to see how things play out.

Had my appointment with the new doc today. He was pretty good and very knowledgeable I felt. As I don't really have much going on SD wise I was just looking for someone to keep an eye on me and I am getting older so I probably need to have a rheumy. As for the mino he said that so few of us have it there really is not too much hard and fast info on what works and why. I told him that the mino had worked for me and provided some info on where I was and where I am presently. Anyway he is OK with the mino but did suggest that I try to drop my dosage some. Just to experiment. I may but not right away with the work rush we have every spring. Maybe come fall I will try and knock off a day or two a week. He did say to stay on the prilosec as most of us are more healthy on it than without it. In short he is going to recommend to my PCP that I stay on mino. I figure I'll check in with him once a year. All in all it went very well and the best part is he comes to the island so I don't have to go away for appointments.
On Thursday I go to the cape to see the cardio guy... what fun. One down one to go.

Sounds like pretty good news, Jeff. Not having to leave the island is a big plus, and that you feel ok with him is another big plus!
Of course, keep us posted on the next appt. Safe travel to you!

Thanks cristel, the appointment Thur. is easy I just have to go over to the cape. The doc is supposed to be a good one. The Rheumy looked at my 24 hour monitor results and did not think the extra beats were a big deal. Have to see what the cardio doc thinks.

Oh thats really good. So happy he is on the plan with you. Hopefully your cardio doctor feels the same way about the extra beats. Keeping fingers crossed.

I went over to the Cape today for my cardio appointment. The visit went well I think. The Doc said that the odd heart beats are very common and usually treating them is more risk than not treating them. Maybe because of the drugs used? When I saw my second rheumy for SD he wanted to wait on treatment because I was not yet as bad as the meds would make me feel. A bit confusing that. Bottom line is I have to have a stress test and I can have that on island. He said usually the odd beats go away when the heart rate goes up during exercise. So if that if is my stress test result I am OK. More or less.
