Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone has had this happen. I am back in the hospital and they are trying to figure it out. Hemo is falling, started at 137 on Sunday. Now down to99. I have had watermelon stomach before, and the blood always showed up in the stool. This time blood is only in vomit. Dark brown almost at the point of being coffee grounds. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks Kathy

I too have had GAVE and like your previous experience the evidence was in the stool. Stomach bleeding but perhaps from higher up in the stomach or in your esophagus? Are you on anti - inflammatories? Ulcers perhaps? Are they going to scope you soon? With GAVE I thought the affected capilaries were in the lower portion of our stomach. Is the vomiting caused by heavier bleeding than is typical with GAVE? I never had a vomiting issue but I feel my blood loss was slow and steady. Was this similar to your previous problem from the cellcept and do you feel you have recovered from that earlier episode?
Hope they find out soon!

I am confused by your numbers. My hemoglobin is always measured as 13.5 or 10.1 (when it drops). I had a scare earlier this year, started bleeding again and the doctor thinks it was due to high doses of IBUPROPEN I was taking after oral surger. I went from 13.5 to 10.1 in a week. By sheer coincidence, I was at my GP office getting blood drawn or I could have had a terrible emergency on my hands. Had to go to GI, get it cauterized, etc. Also on iron for 2 months (ferrous sulfate)> BUT, nothing in stool and I had no symptoms. Good luck!
