HI there all,
About 6 or 8 weeks ago I went to two Rheumy's and both this one and the "older" one wanted me to drop down on the mino thinking that my SD was well under control and even going the other direction.
My hubby and I decided to give it a try and dropped the night mino only. My stomach was much improved for which I am very grateful for! The black spots have diminished some.
Returned today to see Rheumy and get all the blood test results that were taken. I was pleased to hear that my numbers are normal and even lower than normal!!! My skin is really good as are my lungs, digestive track, and weight is good (I'd lost lots of it when tackling the SD diagnosis)
So it was agreed upon that I'd stop all mino and see how it goes. She told me what to look for and to call her if it occurs. So as of tonight, I'm in really good shape and no mino! If all goes well, I'll see her the first week in September.
Just before I left, I asked her Jeff's question. She said it could be lots of reasons for the onset of SD, and that the drug I was on at that time that messed up my system, could have brought it on. She want on to say that the drug I'm presently on for another issue could be what is keeping the SD at bay for other families of the drug are often used to treat SD. So in my case, it could all be a good thing.
I am having more trouble with Raynauds but she said that SD folks have Raynauds but not all Raynauds have SD. My blood pressure is on the lower end of the scale so not want to do anything with drugs....neither do I! She suggested I continue to use the hot pads, mittens and hat even though it is spring/summer. She also told me to use warm water to warm up the fingers and that, no, it wouldn't damage the skin tissue like I'd heard. She want on to say that it is better to get the circulation back in the fingers than to have them remain blue and numb. I'm to keep a close look-out for ulcers on the tips.
So that is my news for today. Ralph and I are rejoicing!
