well....been dealing with a new issue....about a month or so ago I gave a big screen tv to a single mom with 2 girls that watch a teeny tv....it was big..52" monster we bought a long time ago..it had very little time on it and worked great....I'm inline for a thin screen tv and we remodelled my den...well...it's on a 2nd floor and we got the folks we gave it too to come and help get it down to the truck...when I lifted my end up and over the banister I heard or felt something pop...knew I was gonna pay for that one....sure nuff....tossed my lower back out...
after a few times at the chiropractor with no good results...he sent me in for an mri.... well..they found something on my spine that doesn't look right...we talked to the back doc and he said it's cancer...but feels it's been there a long time and probably isn't growing...but I had to get another one with dye contrast to get a better view.....
now I gotta see a back surgeon and an oncologist....friday I see the back surgeon and the oncologist is the following monday....
right now they are saying it's begning....meaning not growing....
say a prayer..I'd hate to go to cancer.....

Steve...I won't say, "don't worry" because that's silly, but I do believe most doctors tend to be "ultra-conservative" when diagnosing. So, sounds like the problem most likely, is benign. With that being said, it still stinks !!! Dealing with sclero is tough enough, adding any other possible serious health issues makes it overwhelming. Please know that I will be thinking of you and sending TONS of well-wishes from across the miles....living through this disease tends to make us stronger than most, use that strength and the love of your wife, family+friends to get through this! P.S.....you also know that I have my doubts, but for you, I will try to pray! Kathleen xo

As the old saying goes "no good deed goes unpunished". Well hopefully it is benign. At least with your appointments coming up soon you won't have to be in flux for weeks on end. Answers are on the way. I always find that to be most vexing. Hang in there and we are all pulling for you.
Be careful of that MRI with contrast I hear you can get scleroderma from those.... Oh yeah we all have that already.

Well, it just doesn't seem fair, does it? I will keep you in my prayers, Steve. Will also think of you as you see those specialists (like anyone needs more doctors to visit...!)

well...finally got to see the surgeon this afternoon....had to go and kick the cage a few times cuz I went over my nap time in the waiting room....he was running later..an hr late...so.. after we got in and sat down...he pulled up the mri images and sure nuff ...there's a growth on my L5-L6 on the left side...he asked me if my left leg felt tingly or numb...nope...everything is normal....well...this growth is benign...or beten....but has been growing for alot of yrs and he feels it's best to leave it alone...not to go in and cut anything out at all....maybe get another mri ...but right now there is nothing that he wants to do....not even a biopsy cuz the way it has grown around the one nerve.....it might do some other damage in the attempt to get a sample...so....right now there is no more to do with it.....it's about the size of a quarter and has a perfect hold on my left leg nerve.......
thanks for all the prayers...we greatly appreciate all of the kind thoughts and prayers....
