From time to time I still get leg cramps, they run from my knee up to my hip. Very painful. I did not get this type of cramp prior to SD. They usually happen when I am not on my feet. Does anyone else have this issue and what do you do for them? I think mine usually happen when I am a little dehydrated which is not too often as I try to keep hydrated. The most effective to relieve mine are one of those Homedic percussion massager and even with that it takes several to relieve the cramp.

jeff I get it in my left calf.....hurts like crazy...bout the only thing I can do is either massage it out or get the same machine you have and have marsha run up and down my calf.....when I was doing deep tissue massage sessions...I'd have her work right to the bone to relieve it...sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't....I have found that some of the medication is the cause......some meds can cause restless leg also....
check the meds your on and see if there is any adverse symptoms that can cause cramping or restless leg....

Good suggestions Steve but I don't think in my case it is a drug caused problem. Currently I am only on mino and prilosec. I had a cramp last night and am pretty sure it is related to hydration. Don't know why I am dehydrated currently but I'll work on it. It surely does hurt though.

I spoke with my chiropractor and she said that it is my adductor muscle. She showed me a few stretches to try. I'll give that a shot. I still think it has to do with hydration or I am more prone to the cramp when I am dehydrated. Have to see what the stretches do.

I get them also and have found it helps to be really hydrated. That means not drinking soda, tea (unless an herbal one), coffee....they don't count as liquid intake. Also, when it occurs, I stand up on the legs and really stretch it out and try to walk it out to stop it from coming back. I also get them in my feet, often when putting on boots or in bed.
I too think that not being hydrated well is part of the problem....and not stretching enough in the mornings. I also take vit B6 which helps. My potassium is fine but others take bananas daily to help with this. Hope you get some relief.

I don't get the leg cramps anymore, but I know how painful they are! For me, the water aerobics (and probably any exercise) seems to keep it at bay. Also, I try to drink about 60 ounces of liquids a day.
A test to see if you are getting enough water is if your "pee" is yellow instead of clear, u r not drinking enough.
Be careful, tho, some vitamins and other drugs, do make it look yellow also.

I have been taking 250 mg of magnesium, one pill daily, for the past several weeks and it has seemed to help thus far. I'll see if it continues and report back.

I tried that on the recommendation of Internist but couldn't seem to get them down! They are big! She said that it may be helpful and has for some folks. Hope it works for you.

I had a leg cramp the other night but that was the first one in weeks. My take is that so far the magnesium is helping.
