How does the body rid itself of toxins when using AP? Is it through excessive urination, bowel movements, vomiting, something else, or all of the above? I know this is kins of a difficult subject, but I've been on AP for 1 month now and experiencing some of these symptoms. Thanks for any feedback.

Linda my herx consisted mostly of sort of a rash and some joint pain I think caused by die off. Mino can dry you out so I try to make sure I drink a lot of water. I had no vomiting or bowel issues though. Have you contacted Dr. Ts office? I think it would be good to run this by your doc. Make sure you don't get dehydrated in the meantime. How long have you been having problems?
Hang in there.

Linda I don't think Dr T is much of an email guy from what I was told, I would call. In addition I will PM you with an email for the woman in the office there, if I can find it. I used that early on and got a reply that was a while ago though. Worth a try. I would call Monday - no sense in fooling around.
I have heard the same thing about herxing. You know that most of us don't etc but I am pretty sure mine was a herx and you and I are on the same dose I believe. The rash began about ten days in. Like you I figured the rash/herx was just part of a process. My SD was cranking at that point and the herx did not really make me feel too much worse.
Glad you are eating again!

I was so sick when I started AP that I don't know if I herxed or not, but don't think I did. BUT PREVIOUSLY, before AP and before anyone knew what I had, a doctor put me on antibiotics of 500 mg a day. I was sick as a dog! Horrible nausea. Can't remember anything else. The doc's nurse told me I was herxing. Then, told me I had a yeast infection in my esophagus and had to stop which I had already done by the time they called me. I know this is not much of an answer. Hope you are OK now.

Linda, I hope you are able to get some answers and to the bottom of the problem real soon. I know that the mino upsets my stomack and Dr. T said to take crackers with it if need be. I wait as long as I can before I brake down and do that for the nausa lasts only one hour...yup 60 minutes! Strange! I'm to call Dr T tomorrow on recommandation of my dr. I've lost seven # in four months...two last two weeks and we were on vacation! Also back to loose stools. Been on AP for a year now and sure didn't expect any of this! Also loosing energy...short of breath, I think but I had trouble recognizing it the first go round! All seems strange when I've been on AP for a year. I do hope Dr. T will call me back. She also wants me to call GI which I've done and have an appointment in two weeks, but he doesn't know much about SD. She thinks it maybe gi bacteria once again. Anyone had that who've been on AP this long?

GRAMMIE: I have not had any of your symptoms but one of the other ladies started AP in October and is now having problems with diarrhea. Doc took her off AP for a few days.
I did, however, get a yeast infection in my esophagus a long time ago before I was diagnosed. I had to take DIFLUCAN to get rid of it.
Much, much later (about 1 1/2 years) I went on the Minocin and so far no problems. Bottom line, tho, you need to get to the GI and also talk to the doc about the fact that you are feeling weak, short of breath, etc.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences. I did talk with Dr. T. he said to cut back to 1 mino 1x@ day. I did. My GI doc told me to try some Immodium. He may have to do another test dealing with digestive system muscles. We will see.The Immodium seems to be working. I am eating again and gaining weight again. Had an appt today with my rheumy. Good report. Heart is strong, lungs are pushing air through, skin is softening. I am not on O2 24/7 just when exerting. I am getting out of the house these days, just moving slowly. Grammie, I hope you are feeling much better soon!! Linda
