Lynn you have brought up a good point. After having this for a while and spending some time on the boards it appears to me that the folks that are doing the best regardless of treatment are those that have taken control or at least have an active interest in their medical decisions. If not perhaps physically certainly mentally as in attitude wise. Just an observation on my part and may not be correct but, again to me, that would seem to be the case. Just the fact that folks are on the boards and asking good questions shows interest. There are only a couple of boards I find helpful. Most boards seem to have different people asking the same old questions and not really getting any new info. Lots of questions and no real answers. I find the no hope part depressing. Here and on RBF there seems to be a thread of hope day to day and I find that refreshing and helpful for my attitude. Maybe not but that is my take.
As a friend used to say "I'm still on the right side of the grass"

I've posted several times that with this disease....attitude is probably about 80% of the fight.....I know I'm sounding repetitive...but a good sense of humor...an active role in a patient's care....and active research will get a patient so much farther than what I see in people that do nothing or try to let the doc's make the decisions......one needs to be very pro-active with this disease....

I agree Steve. It really helps me reading the "Shameless Trolls" and other posts to know I'm not the only one. Thanks for all the encouraging words! Lynn

Back to the original question.........I have interviewed doctors. We just moved and had to get an internist. I did interview her and she asked me all sorts of questions about SD for she didn't know anything about it but did have one patient with it. We have left her!
So we've done it back wards by asking around.
We asked around at church for an internist and found one who is very open to sending folks to others if unsure and does treat auto. illnesses. We'll see for we go in Dec.
I also 'asked around' this site and the road back for doctors names. That's how I got to Dr T.
So we do 'interview' but kind of back wards. Dr's have to keep the 'privacy' so are reluctant to say who with SD they treat but do seem open when asked "how many SD".
That's been our experience. grammie
