Terri, I sure do feel for you. I had the 'wake up in pain' of the hands for about six months before Dx. It sure was horrid. I tried, heat, cold, swinging the arms, splints, different sleeping positions. ..... nothing worked. One the recommendation of the 'old board' I headed to the roadback and to the book. From there, talking on the board of doctors near me and to several from Roadback, I decided to switch Rh and go the AP route since I wasn't getting a whole lot of help from my rh and AP wasn't mentioned. I'm still early into AP but don't have the pain I had before. I do get a tightness once in a while where they seem to lock but rubbing them I can loosen them now. It was scarry to switch doctors and hospitals but I'm glad I did it. I sure am enjoying this summer more than last! Now if the sun would stay out (rain, rain , rain!!!)---but I do have a nice golden tan anyway ---- and wind would die down, I'd try the kayak! good luck, grammie
