Several of my friends (about seven or eight couples) are getting together tomorrrow for a barbecue. Any other time I would be all gungho over going, Not this time. I seem to be holding back and I'm not sure why. I think it's because it's about an hours drive and I'll need to wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt in the car because of the air conditioning. When we get there it will be outside, of course, and it'll be hot. So then I'll need shorts and a sleevless top. Who brings an a change of clothes to a party??? I hate being such an oddball. Only two couples know about the sclero and I don't plan on informing anyone else tomorrow. So,what do you all think?? Should I go or forget the hassle and stay home?

Take the extra clothes - go to the party and have some fun. My work truck and cars look like a closet; pull overs, knit hats, gloves, you name it! When my hands were really hurting we were out one time and I had a bottle of juice, no way I could open one at that point. I was talking to someone and continued speaking with him as I handed the bottle to my wife - she opened it and handed it back, no words between us. He looked at me and said "whats that all about"? I just said "I have scleroderma and she doesn't" and went back to what we were talking about. The guy is kind of a pain in the ass - he knows what I have etc. But it is just the way it is - I'm not staying home because he is a pain. There is always one.
So put you clothes together - take everything you might need and just go. If you have to change just go change. Really it sounds like a good time enjoy!!

I agree with Jeff. You have one life and this is it, dont waste it sitting home over extra clothes. Go and have a good time, who cares. I think the people that invited you would like you there cause they care about you, they arent going to be concerned over a change of clothes. Sharon

Thanks Jeff and Sharon. I think I will go. It's been so long since I've had fun. I kinda forgot what it was like! Depending on what time I get home tomorrow I'll let you know then or the next day how it went. It'll be funny in a way, we're the only couple that does NOT drink. After they've had a few, they wont care what I do LOL LOL

So much for me deciding to go! The dear hubby woke up this A.M. with a bad tummy!! You know the kind, you have to stay within a few feet of a toilet!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, maybe another time. May be best we didn't go. Weather was in the high 80's and humid as all get out. I think I would have been miserable. Anyway, thanks all of you for the encouragement. Sharon, it would have been funny to tell the over-imbiber that they were imagining my change of clothing! LOLOLOLO

Sorry your hubby felt bad and you couldn't go. DO NOT STOP SOCIALIZING. No matter what you think, your friends will still be your friends. Also, I told anyone who would listen that I have Scleroderma. Everyone is cool with it. We just went to a party last night and they all told me how much better I look this year than last year. What is funny, is I thought I looked great LAST year!!!!!
