I know there is a doxy/mino thread in the AP section but was thinking if there was one in this section it might get some more views and responses.
I was speaking with another member a week or so ago and we were discussing the skin darkness issue and switching to doxy from mino to lessen the darkening. In my case I am going to stay the course and stick with mino. I do have some skin darkening, most noticeable on my face. My reasoning is that being a guy the darkening is not much of a concern for me. I would rather stay where I am than take the risk of back sliding. I know that for some Vit. C helps lessen the darkening but for me Vit. C just increases my joint pain. That has always been my experience as is repeatable. Threads on other boards do point out that many have had a good result with Vit. C
I was curious if a member or one of our guests out there has made the switch and how they made out? Just looking for some different experiences both with the med switch, taking Vit. C. or any other theories about reducing skin darkening.

I am just seeing this post, Jeff.
I haven't ever been on AP therapy officially, but have been taking doxycycline off and on for a leg ulcer. I will once again have to pay more attention to my other symptoms to see if the doxy is making a difference. Hmmm, interesting.

How is that leg doing Christel? Right after I was DXd with scleroderma back in late 2006 I had a severe sinus infection my doc put me on doxy. He said he wanted to use an "old time" antibiotic to fight the infection. That cleared up the sinus infection pretty quickly. I began the mino for the SD about two weeks later. within three weeks of starting the mino I began to see results, love those old time antibiotics.

Sorry to have not responded until now. I meant to, but obviously did not!
My leg is still there...with the ulcer there, too, although the folks at the wound clinic think it looks so much better. I don't know. I had a new gizmo attached for a while to keep the drainage off the wound (a negative pressure pump thing), but as with most air-occlusive dressings, I developed a miserable infection, with yet more pain. I'm back to where I was probably a month ago. The persistent swelling in that leg make it more tricky to close the wound. I had been trying to get back to exercise, but the lack of padding in my feet has gotten worse, too, so it hurts to walk for another reason. Gee, I can't win for losing!
Ok, that is TMI, for sure. We'll all try to check in more frequently!
Happy spring!
C.
