Hello to those of you in the northeast!
Are you in the path of the nor'easter in your neighborhoods? I guess it shouldn't be a surprise in January, but we do still dwell on the weather, don't we? Stay safe and warm!

Snowing here now. It is supposed to get very windy tonight, not bad presently. Not sure how much snow we will get as it may change over to rain here. Wind is predicted to gust to 75 worst case. Tested the generator this morning and it ran fine. The New Hampshire ladies are in for big snow from what I see on the weather. Tomorrow would be a good day to hang out at home and read. If I can get out I need to work though.

I guess I was a few days early, huh? Didn't mean to give Mother Nature any ideas to follow through.. Looks like we will miss this round. Please stay warm and safe. Tuck in and wait out the worst of the weather.

Jeff, great idea to check out the generator. Not to be insulting, but do you have enough gas if you need it? We also have a generator and were stuck without any gas to run it in one of our major power outages years ago...oops! That won't happen to us again!

Hey I am back online. Lots of wind maybe 18" of snow the first foot very heavy and wet. All the whiz bang stuff quit. No CATV so no internet, all AT&T cell phones were down (I think Verizon were the only operable phones), no regular phone, Only cape radio stations. So spent the day with no idea what was happening island wide. I understand that the entire island was out of power. We get our power through undersea cables but the main transformer is down by the water and it froze over with spray and shorted out. Much of the island is still out. We were out from about 3 AM until 6:30 PM. My generator worked like a champ all day long yeaaaaa. I used to have a generator on wheels that I would roll around, start, plug in and flip switches that used gasoline and yes that can be an issue. About ten years ago I upgraded to an automatic setup that runs on propane as we have no natural gas system here. It is a nice setup - power goes out generator starts hopefully. It is a bit of maintenance but the trick for me is to make sure it exercises every week as it should automaticly. I have several customers with generators and the mostly have no idea if the gen. runs or not and then can not figure out why when the power goes out it does not come on. So we were warm and toasty. My son and his girlfriend came over and spent the night as he does not have a gen. yet. Around 3 PM I drained the apt. as it did not have power and we drained my son's house too. Better safe than sorry. Went over and connected the roll around generator at a neighbors house as her husband was away so she could have heat. Not a bad day all in all really.
Hope everyone else made out OK. Don't slip on the ice!

Hey! Glad to hear from ya! Sounds like you were prepared! I didnt understand the drained the apt. and your sons house, drained what? We rent so we dont have a generator.your sounds much easier than the gas powered things. Today was a very nice day, we are waiting on a few more inches of snow tomorrow morning. I guess its. winter, I was loving not having snow around, but I am not complainn...i have auto start on my car and heated seats so, I am toasty and I rarely use hand warmers anymore. Glad ur all safe! :-)

Nancy with the town power being out the houses had no heat and those two do not have a generator backup. It was supposed to get down into the 20s after the storm moved out. So the water system freezing was a distinct possibility. My son and I talked about it and rather than rolling the dice and hope the power would come back on we turned off the water and drained the two houses as best we could and put non toxic antifreeze in the toilets, toilet tanks and sink traps. Like winterizing your RV but our houses are pre plastic piping so the copper pipes will freeze and burst. In short better safe than sorry. Our power did come back on but parts of the island did not get power until yesterday. I understand that some individual homes are still with out power probably due to trees falling on overhead services etc. I spoke with one woman and the temp in her house was 22 degrees when her power was restored late Wed.
Getting some calls about installing generators in a few houses. Have not sold any in a number of years due to the economy so I need to get back up to speed on what is available.

I just drove up from Hyannis and it was snowing pretty heavily on RT. 3 going to Boston. Several accidents. The snow got much lighter above Concord NH and stopped eventually. In northern VT. the stars are out.

Today is the first day that we've been here that it is raining and cloudy in between the raindrops. It is tough as there is not much to do but sit around, maybe pace a bit, and eat! My 25 year old daughter has been here since Friday and it's really tough trying to think of things that will amuse her. She is used to the action in Chicago, where she lives. We feel a little bad that we can't keep her entertained... I know, I know, it's not our fault, but we so wanted to show her a good time as this is her first vacation in a long time. Mom and Dad just don't have the same interests as a young single woman these days. Sigh.
I am actually getting restless to get back home. Two weeks here is a bit too long for me to sit around and rest. I wish I could save some of it for the times I need a break back home. Guess it doesn't work that way. Plus, I miss my dog!!
My leg is ok--still swollen a bit, and gets sore if I am on it too much. In general, the warmer temps are good, of course. Many of my symptoms (hand pain, eg.) return with going into a grocery store.
Hope you're all hanging in there, too.
C.❤️☀️
