Do you find the results of the doxy similar to the same dosage of mino? I have some face darkening but am somewhat apprehensive about changing meds. In addition I would probably have to begin the rheumy search again. As my modeling career is over maybe I will just live with it.

Update on my update - Still on 100mg daily and still feeling well. When I reduced dosage I noticed that in time a spot on my left middle finger where I had a very persistent digital ulcer back when was getting very sensitive again. In addition where it had been healed over for several years a scab was forming. Not a hole like an ulcer but just sort of a crusty covering that had been skin last summer. The past six weeks or so it has been very sensitive and of course I have been running it into things a work - ouch. The week before last it was very tender and I mentioned it to my wife. Two days later I was checking it out and noticed that the scab was half way off. peeled the rest off and nice new skin was revealed underneath. Just left a bit of a divot. Now the divot has filled itself in and the finger is a lot less painful than previously. I still have a spot just behind that has a head of a pin size scab. That too is getting less painful and smaller by the day. I think I am just about back to normal, the 100 mg daily is doing the trick. I am going to have to think long and hard about reducing dosage again.

Jeff - Real quick note. More later. The Doxy was helping my skin darkening; it had decreased about 50% or more. But my SD symptoms began coming back. I am now back on every day Mino and 3wk IV cycles. I never had a modeling career anyway.

Hey Randy good to hear from you. We are in the same boat I think. I was curious about the Doxy but really don't want to open what perhaps would be a can of worms. The skin darkening I can live with and am thinking the 100mg of mino is were I will stay for now. Feeling well now and would like to keep it that way. At this point in my life I don't feel experimenting too much is worth it. I told my wife that if I get darker around my the sides of my face I will get some sort of tribal tattoo that will cover all of that up. For some reason she is not too keen on that idea.

It may be premature but while this winter has been just as damp and gross as last I still feel OK. It was around this time last winter that I was beginning to hurt a bit more and attributed it to my reduction in mino dose. I have been cruising along at a dosage of 100mg a day and that appears to be doing the trick. The 100mg three times a week just did not get the job done for me. Very happy I went back to the 100mg x 7 days. I suppose I am still ahead of the curve in that 100MG a day is half the dose Dr. T put me on way back when.

Good conclusion for you, Jeff. Sounds like you entertained/tried a lot of options to get here. Wishing you continued success on this maintenance dose of medicine!

Thanks Christel it has been quite a ride. Not necessarily a nice one but having major parts of my life back is welcome and I am thankful for that.

Interesting what a difference meds can make! Glad for all that the meds are working and feeling good!
