I had my rotator cuff operation yesterday and wanted to share a couple of observations. One before surgery I asked the doc to let me know if my bones were green yet as Mino is supposed to do that. Two there is a woman over on Inspire that every time there is a AP question she chimes in that during her hip replacement surgery the docs found her bones to be black and very brittle and blames it on mino.
In my case the answer to #1 is no my bones are not green or black according to my surgeon. I have been on mino now over six years. The answer to question 2 is my bones appear to be normal. I do have some osteopenia (sp?) that is probably a result of SD and it was discovered before I began AP. My bone loss has been arrested since I began AP. As I have pointed out in other posts my arm or shoulder did not break when I fell. I fell hard enough to tear two of my rotator cuff tendons but the bone held up nicely. Maybe in her case mino did effect her bones or there is another cause altogether but in mine mino has had no effect.
How did SD effect my tendons etc? The answer is I don't know. Some of my tendon damage was old and as a result commonly the tendons that have retracted and can't be stretched back over to where they used to attach. I'm sure the SD did not help the cause but it was not the sole contributor to my issues.
Not too many universals with SD and it's treatments.

Good news that SD didn't play a part in the damage of anything. It sure is a weird illness! Just when one thinks they know what it is doing/done, it changes. It sure does affect folks differently,.
